David Skinner Talks About The Georgia Development Authority
Tuesday, February 7th, 2012
David Skinner, Executive Director of the Georgia Development Authority, talks about the services they provide and what they look for in new loan customers.
My name's David Skinner. I'm the Executive Director of Georgia Development Authority. We have three offices in the state of Georgia: Monroe, Moultrie, and Cordell. We make long term farm loans for all types of Georgia agriculture and agribusinesses. We're a state authority that was created in 1934 by the Federal Rehabilitation Act, and was originally created as the Georgia Rural Rehabilitation Authority. In the mid‑'50s, the state of Georgia and the Federal government merged the two programs to become the Georgia Development Authority, and make long term loans throughout the state. Even though we are a state authority, there's never been any state money put into the Authority. We're totally self‑supporting. And we make loans, like I said, for all types of long term capital purposes for agriculture.
Well, we look for the main tag there most all. We look for collateral, of course, credit worthiness and credit history. From the time we get your application in hand, we can normally have you a commitment ready to post your loan within six to eight weeks.
You always need to have your credit financial statement updated, need to have a three years' past tax returns, and need to have a cash flow projection and expenses for your individual operation. All you need to do is call 1‑800‑376‑FARM. Or you can go on the website at Georgia, gdaonline.com.
