USDA reports U.S. crop development continues to run well ahead of average. 

As of Sunday, 97% of the corn crop has emerged, compared to 75% a year ago and the five year average of 83%, with Indiana, Missouri, and Nebraska fully emerged. 72% of the crop is in good to excellent condition, unchanged on the week and up 5% from this time last year. 

For soybeans, 94% is planted, compared 63% a year ago and 75% on average, while 79% has emerged, compared to 39% last year and 50% on average. In the first rating of the year, 65% of soybeans are in good to excellent shape, with 29% fair and 6% called poor to very poor. 

88% of winter wheat has headed, compared to 77% last year and 80% on average, and 20% is harvested, compared to 7% a year ago and 3% on average. 52% of winter wheat is in good to excellent condition, down 2% from last week but up 18% from last year. 

3% of the spring wheat crop has headed, including 21% in South Dakota, with 78% rated good to excellent, 1% less than a week ago. 

46% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent shape as of Sunday, compared to 47% last week and 53% last year.
