Young Farmers Hold Farm Equipment Auction
Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012
The Franklin County Young Farmers Association has a unique way of fundraising. Each year on the first Saturday in October and March, the group holds a consignment Farm Equipment Auction. Individuals consign items across the state to be auctioned such as tractors, plows and cattle equipment. The auction will be held this year on March 3, 2012 at Franklin County High School and starts at 9:00 AM either rain or shine. Not only is this a great way to raise funds, it is a fun time of fellowship and education. The auction is open to anyone to buy or sell items. The funds received from this auction goes to assisting the Franklin County High School and Middle School FFA.
In past years, the Franklin County Young Farmers have played a huge role in supporting the FFA with their financial needs. The farm equipment auction offers the group an opportunity to raise funds for the chapter and give those interested in agriculture a chance to purchase reasonably priced equipment for their home or farm. The money raised from this auction has purchased cattle trailers, land, tractors and other equipment needed by the Agriculture Education Department. The Young Farmers have also contributed to the building and upkeep of the Franklin County Agriculture Center, Livestock Holding and Demonstration Facility and swine operation at the High School.
In addition to providing items needed by the Agriculture Education Department, the Young Farmers have donated money for the High School and Middle School to attend State and National Competitions, prize money for FFA/4-H Livestock Shows, the Franklin County Agri-Science Fair and the Annual Young Farmer/ Daryl Elrod Memorial Scholarship.
Next time you need small or large pieces of equipment, keep in mind that the Franklin County Young Farmers have a sale just around the corner.
