Cotton, Corn, Peanut Planting Near Done

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said Monday at least 95 percent of the nation's cotton, corn and peanut crops were planted.

For spring wheat, 88 percent of the crop is planted, the department said.

For winter wheat, the harvest has begun with 22 percent of the fields harvested. Winter wheat conditions, the USDA said in the weekly crop report, included 66 percent of the crop in good or excellent shape. Only 2 percent is listed as in very poor shape. Twenty-five percent is listed as fair as of June 12.
