Large Tractor, Combine Sales up in April, Smaller Tractors Down

According to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers' monthly "Flash Report," the sales of all tractors in the U.S. for April 2011 were down 5% compared to the same month last year.
For the year 2011, a total of 51,961 tractors were sold, which compares to 51,217 sold through April 2010.
For the month, two-wheel-drive smaller tractor (under 40 HP) were down 10%, and 40 & under 100 HP were up down 3%. Sales of two-wheel-drive 100+ HP were up 8.5% from last year, and four-wheel-drive tractors were up 24% for the month.
For the year 2011, two-wheel drive smaller tractors (under 40 HP) are down 1.5% from last year, while 40 & under 100 HP are up 8.5%. Sales of two-wheel drive 100+ HP are down 3.5%, while four-wheel-drive tractors are up 15.8% for the year.
Combine sales were up 21% for the month. Sales of combines for the year 2011 total 3,088, up 34% from the same period in 2010.
