Press Release by Issuing Company

Friday, August 13th, 2010

The 2010 Georgia 4-H Gala will take place on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at the Renaissance-Waverly Hotel in Atlanta. At this event, alumni and friends of Georgia 4-H join together in support of a program which has served Georgia's young people since 1904.

4-H friends, alumni, and sponsors will gather to celebrate Georgia 4-H, beginning at 6:00 pm. Casual entertainment will be provided by 4-H’ers from Clovers & Company, as the silent auction takes place. Attendees can browse and bid on items online before the event, as well. The evening will conclude with the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award and a live auction.

The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Mr. M.K. "Curly" Cook. Curly Cook was the driving force behind the vision for a Perry Fair facility that could host all of the state junior livestock shows for 4-H and FFA members across the state. The dream that Curly and others shared allows youth in the Georgia livestock program to exhibit in one of the finest facilities in the nation. It is estimated that over 30,000 youth have exhibited over 60,000 head of livestock in Georgia’s Junior Livestock Program.

Funds raised at the Georgia 4-H Gala will support Georgia 4-H Project Achievement. 4-H Project Achievement assists youth in developing skills in leadership, communication, time-management, and organization, that will benefit them for the rest of their lives. Proceeds from the Gala will fund an endowment that allows district winners to attend state competition at no cost.
