Frontier Equipment offers two wide-row corn heads, the CH2208, eight row, and the CH2112, twelve row, with new design features to increase harvest capacity in the field.
"The CH2208 and CH2112 offer wide-row capabilities in 36-inch and 38-inch spacing," says Tom Elliott, manager, product marketing, Frontier Equipment. "Both corn heads were designed to handle higher-yielding corn whether harvesting in standing, down or leaning crops."
The corn heads feature an 18-inch diameter cross auger that provides unmatched crop handling capacity. Reverse auger flighting lessens ear tossing and improves dry-trash feeding.
"Dual auger strippers also reduce grass, vine, or wet down corn from wrapping around the auger," explains Elliott. "We've strategically located a fixed top auger stripper behind the auger and a second lower stripper that is fully adjustable. These strippers prevent ears from riding on top of the auger by keeping ears on the auger bed floor and ensure that more ears get into the combine for better threshing."
Gravity guides corn into the lower entrance of the auger bed floor. This stops free grain loss, prevents back feeding and decreases ear damage. Cleanout doors on each end of the corn head minimize time that operators need to spend cleaning under augers.
Rugged gathering chains also feature larger, taller lugs, which significantly improves movement of the corn through the row units. Gathering chains only need to be adjusted once per season, reducing overall maintenance.
Adjustable Perma-Glide™ points and deck covers are easy to fold up for better row unit access. This improves serviceability and makes trailer transport safer and easier.
"In addition to its normal harvesting capabilities, the CH2208 corn head offers a stalk chopper option that provides ultimate residue management," says Elliott. "Customers will save time, passes through the field, and overall operating costs with the CH2208's cornstalk residue processing."
The CH2208 takes in less material and separates residue from corn. Aggressive, longer lasting knife rolls work with heat-treated, wear-resistant chopping blades to cut stalks to ideal size and evenly distribute residue on the field. The knife roll and chopping blade combination equips corn heads with a system strong enough to cut through higher-yielding, drought-resistant cornstalks.
