Tractor Auction to Cap Sunbelt Expo
Friday, August 24th, 2012
Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, the world’s largest auctioneer of farm, construction and other heavy equipment, will conduct an unreserved public auction in conjunction with this year’s Sunbelt Ag Expo. Potential buyers will have a chance to bid on 17 2011 John Deere MFWD tractors and a selection of other consigned equipment that the company currently is collecting.
Each item will be sold to the highest bidder regardless of price — without minimum bids or reserve prices. Bidders can participate in the auction in-person, online in real time at www.rbauction.com or by proxy.
“Conducting auctions in conjunction with trade shows provides great convenience for our customers — they can participate and network at the Sunbelt Ag Expo and then stay for our auction and purchase all the equipment they need in a single trip,” said Ritchie Bros. Regional Sales Manager Darrin Hogeboom, “It also gets more eyes on the
equipment of our sellers.”
When the auction house held a similar sale earlier this year in Tipton, Calif., in conjunction with the World Ag Expo, the company saw more online bidding that ever before and record gross proceeds from online sales.
The company does not set parameters on the type of equipment it will auction. “Typically our auctions include a vast array of various types of farm equipment,” Hogeboom said.
There also is no deadline for consignors to list equipment they’d like to auction, but since Ritchie Bros. already has started marketing for the auction, the sooner the better. The longer an item is listed, the more pre-auction attention it may draw. The Sunbelt Ag Expo – held this year Oct. 16 to 18 attracts close to 100,000 people to Moultrie. Ritchie Bros. will participate in the expo and conduct the unreserved auction on Friday, the day after the expo closes, beginning at 9 a.m.
“We are excited to have Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers as an exhibitor at the 2012 Sunbelt Ag Expo. Their experience and knowledge of the agricultural industry makes them a true asset to our event,” said Sunbelt Expo Executive Director Chip Blalock. “Over our three-day event — from Oct. 16 through 18 — visitors of the Sunbelt Ag Expo will explore new product lines and capitalize on educational opportunities from university and college research specialists.
‘Then, to cap the week off, attendees can head over to Ritchie Bros. on Oct. 19 and participate in their unreserved auction. We hope it will prove to be a very informative and successful week for the North American agricultural industry.”
